Typo3 - Manual Installation

Typo3 - Manual Installation

TYPO3 is a free Open Source Content Management System for websites.

TYPO3 is installed on a web server and used with a web browser.

Apart from a browser, no additional software is required for use.

The use of TYPO3 is divided into three main areas: The creation of the website design,

configuring TYPO3 using TypoScript and entering the website content.

In this manual you will learn how to install TYPO3.

Step 1: Download Typo3 software

First download Typo3 from the provider's website.

http://typo3.org/download/packages/

Extract the file (e.g. TYPO3 4.5 LTS - Introduction Package) into a directory,

which you can easily find again.

Step 2: Connect via FTP and upload files

Next, open your FTP client (e.g. FileZilla) and connect

you go to your webspace with the FTP access data, then look for

the folder you unpacked. Now select the folder /typo3_src+dummy-4.3.3

from Typo3.

Copy the folder to the /htdocs directory on your FTP server by typing

Select the folder and click on the right mouse button.

Select "Upload" from the menu that opens.

Wait until the transfer is completed.

Step 3: Set up MySQL database

Create a MySQL database and remember the database name,

login name and password.

A description of how to create a MySQL database can be found at

following link:

Step 4: Open your own domain in your browser

Next, open your domain in your browser (IHREDOMAIN.DE/index.php).

Step 5: Start the Typo3 installation

The following screen appears:

Step 7: Select configured MySQL database

In the following screen, use the pull-down menu to select the database that you want to use.

you have previously created and click on the "Continue" button.

Step 8: Blank system or demo page?

Now you can choose whether you want to create an "empty" installation, i.e. an installation without demo content (Blank System),

or whether a demo page should already be installed (Introduction Package).

The latter we take as an example in this manual. You set the setup again

Continue with "Continue" and wait a moment until the loading screen is ready.

Step 9: Set up access data

In the last step of the installation of Typo3 you have to set a password and for the

Demo page a color fixed.

Finish the installation with a click on "Continue".

Step 10: Complete the Typo3 installation

The installation of Typo3 on your FTP server is now complete.

Click on the button "Log into Typo3" (3) to customize Typo3 according to your needs.

In the following picture you can log in with the login "admin" and the password from step 10 in the

administration area of your Typo3 installation.

Important note

Typo 3 only works if no reload from shell is used.

It is not possible to use Imagemagick in conjunction with Typo 3,

if commands such as exec() are to be used.
