Setting up a password-protected directory

Directory protection can be set up to password-protect individual directories on the web hosting package. This can ensure that only certain users can access the data in this directory.

Important: The directory to be protected must first have been created on the web hosting package using an FTP program.

Step 1

On our homepage at www.checkdomain.net/en, click on My Login at the top right and select "Customer Area" to log in.

You will reach the login form by entering your customer number or e-mail address and your customer password and then clicking on the "Login" button.

Step 2

You are now in your customer area. In the left navigation click on the navigation point "Webhosting".

Step 3

In the following menu click on the button "Directory protection".

Step 4

In the pull-down menu, select the domain of the web hosting package for which directory protection is to be set up.

Next, click on the "New Directory Protection" button.

Step 5

In the pull-down menu, select the directory to be protected.

Enter a user name (User) and a password in the text fields. You can also enter a name for the directory to be protected.

Then confirm your entries by clicking on "Save".

Click on the "Back to overview" button to return to the previous menu.
