Total Commander is a free FTP client.
It offers for example:
Resume interrupted downloads, add files to download list and download later, download in background, secure FTP over SSL/TLS.
In this guide you will learn how to set up Total Commander, to be able to connect to your FTP server.
Please note that in order to use an FTP program, must have a webhosting package with us. (FTP access data).
Start the program "Total Commander". In our example it is version 7.50a.
After the start you will see the following screen:
In the lower part you are asked to click on a certain button. In the example this is "No.2". Click on the desired button.
The following screen appears:
It is not necessary to change anything here. So click on "Ok" to continue.
You will see the following screen:
Press the "FTP" button to set up a connection to your domain.
Next you will see the following windows:
Click on the "New Connection" button.
You will see the following screen:
Now enter your FTP access data. We have used the following data in our example:
Domain name: www.mustermann.de
IP number: 62.116.172.234
Login: mustermann
Password: 123456
(Please enter the data in your FTP program, which we will send you by e-mail.
(your access data for the domain ...)
Now enter the following data:
Title: My homepage mustermann.de
Server name [Port]: mustermann.de
Username: mustermann.de
Password: 123456
Removed delay: /htdocs/
In passive mode, place a check mark in the box.
If completed, it would look like the following: (Please note that you have to enter your access data and not our example data).
Important note:
To establish a connection via "FTPES" (explicit encryption), an additional plugin must be installed. After installing the plugin, check the box "SSL/TLS". Then click on the "Ok" button to complete the setup.
