Set up your e-mail program: Mozilla Thunderbird

Email setup for Mozilla Thunderbird

In this tutorial, you will learn how to check your emails in Mozilla Thunderbird (POP3 and IMAP) and then retrieve it.

First download the Thunderbird program from the manufacturer's site.

Step 1

Select in the upper navigation bar of Thunderbird the point "Extras" and click on "Account Settings".

Step 2

A new window will appear in which you click on "Account Actions" in the lower left corner.

An extended menu will open up:

Click here on "Add e-mail account".

Step 3

You will now see the following screen:

Fill in the fields as shown.

Your Name: Your Name

E-mail address: max@mustermann.de Password: 123456

Password: 123456 (was assigned by you when setting up the e-mail mailbox at checkdomain.com).

And click on "Next".

Step 4

The following screen will appear:

Fill in the fields as shown.

Replace all fields with the information about your e-mail box.

You can also find this in your customer login under "E-mails -> Server information".

As user name, take the e-mail login of the e-mail account you used when creating the e-mail account in your customer area on checkdomain.net/en was assigned.

 And then click on "Test configuration again".

The program then checks whether the settings are correct and logs on to the registered server as a test. 

If you get an error message, check the entered values again.

Step 5

Now you will see the following screen:

Click on "Create account".

Step 6

The email account is now set up, but you will need to change the settings to send it.

Click on the "Tools" tab and select "Account settings...".

Step 7

In the window that now appears on the left, scroll down to the very bottom and select click on "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)".

On the right side you will find your domain name or the mailbox in the small field you have just set up.

Select this so that it is highlighted in blue and click on the right side to "Edit".

Step 8

In the window that now appears, the last field, i.e. the user name, must be of your username and port to "587", which you have already specified in the 4th step have used.

Finish the setup with a click on "OK".

Your new e-mail address in Thunderbird will be created and can be used immediately to send and receive emails.
