How do I create a category in PrestaShop?

This guide explains how to create a category for your products in your PrestaShop.

Step 1

First you log into the administration area of your PrestaShop. The following screen will then appear:

Click here on the text "Add a new subcategory".

Step 2

You will now see the following input mask:

Enter the desired name of the product category in the text field under Name. You can also enter a short description of the category.

Step 3

With a click on the button "Browse..." you can add a logo file for the category from your PC.

Step 4

In the fields marked here you can enter the meta data for your online shop. An explanation of what meta data is can be found under the following link:

Step 5

Then click on the "Save" button.

Step 6

Call up your PrestaShop now and you will see the category you have created.
